Privacy

Simple Explanation

This section is about the privacy given to users as a matter of policy. The terms set the parameters. This policy explains that there are no plans to share information.

To be clear. Advertisers have their own policies, which this site has no control over. It collects email addresses for a newsletter. Cookies are not set by this domain. They are set by advertisers and email list services, MailChimp and Benchmark Email. These services provide some information to me about subscribers for validation purposes. Wufoo forms are used for support and contact.

Everything online is tracked by someone.

Privacy Policy

(Last Updated June 25, 2016)

Netiquette.xyz protects your privacy. Currently, I, David Chiles, do not collect any personal data from visitors to the site. That may change as I develop new services.

If you provided me with your e-mail address or you subscribed to my newsletter. I will not divulge this information to anyone.

Tracking Technologies

When you visit netiquette.xyz and other websites, you leave a trail of data. Things tracked are:

The domain you came from;

The time you arrived;

Which pages you accessed;

How long you stayed on the site.

I use third-party advertising companies, specifically Google's AdSense and Affiliate Network to serve ads when you visit my website. Google uses information about your visits to this and other websites gathered by cookies (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about opting out, visit Google's ad and content network privacy policy.

I log your IP address in order to help diagnose problems with servers, administer my Web site and track usage statistics. Your IP address may vary each time you visit, or it may be the same, depending on whether you access my site through an always-on type of Internet connection (for example, a cable modem or DSL), or through a dial-up connection. Either way, it would be extremely difficult for me to identify you through your IP address, and I make no attempt to do so. If you reached my site by clicking on a link or advertisement on another site, then I also log that information. This helps maximize my Internet exposure, and it helps me understand my users' interests. All of this information is collected and used only in the aggregate; that is, it is entered into a database, where I can use it to generate overall reports on visitors, but not individual reports that identify you personally.

Security

I cannot guarantee the protection of information against interception, misappropriation, misuse, or alteration or that your information may be not be disclosed or accessed by accidental circumstances or by the unauthorized acts of others. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number) on registration or order forms, I encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL) or Transport Layer Security (TLS). You should be aware that I have no control over the security of other sites on the Internet you might visit, interact with, or from which you buy products or services.

Links to Other Sites

This Web site contains links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by me, David Chiles. Please be aware that I, David Chiles, am not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. I encourage you to be aware when you leave my site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies only to information collected by me.

Policy Changes

I reserve the right to change this policy should I deem it advisable to do so. If I make significant changes that affect the use or disclosure of your personal information, I will make reasonable efforts to notify you of the changes such as notifying you here, by email, or by means of a notice on my home page and will give you the opportunity to cancel your registration.
